Default BowTech bows-opinions?

I am in the market for a short, fast bow with 80% let off. I've been looking at Matthew's bows, but recently started looking at BowTech bows, especially the Mighty Mite and Tech 29. Has anyone used a BowTech bow or have any opinions as to which brand is the best choice?

Rack,
BowTech bows are absolutely top notch in every respect.....I'm on my 4th one personally. Not that anything was wrong with the other 3, just wanted to try some others......cash flow/wife arguments if you know what I mean. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
I owned the Mighty Mite and hunted with it all last season, and feel it is tops as a pure hunting bow......you won't find a harder hitting bow under 33&quot; on the market.
It was VERY fast, and quite shootable in spite of it's short ATA length due in part to its 7+&quot; brace height......as quiet as any of my other single cams with the normal Limbsavers/Stabilizer etc. Very slight recoil and no felt vibration.
I also have experience with the T29 as well.....my best friend shot one last season and liked it very much. Personally I would lean toward the Mighty Mite of the 2 you mentioned simply due to the slightly longer ATA and higher brace height.
The bow's (BowTech's in general)fit and finish is excellent......WInner's Choice string and cable is tops, bronze axle bushings, stainless stabilizer inserts etc.
I own Hoyts have gone thru a few Mathews, and other big name bows and BowTech is my favorite of the bunch by a long shot.
A great company run by good people who will stand behind their products........I haven't had any problems at all, but I have heard where they really took care of any problems that had come up and quickly .....Lifetime warranty. They actually LISTEN to what the public has to say about their bows and strive to make improvements from year to year based on what people like or dislike about them. That's impressive.
Currently I am shooting a Patriot as my hunting bow and couldn't be happier.
I think BowTech still has a $50 rebate going for all remaining 2002's.....ask your dealer about it.
I like them so much I already have a 2003 for my 5th BowTech on order, and will most likely be shooting my 6th for 3D next season.

Also Take a look at the bows OVER 32&quot; ATA as well......they have some great offerings for 2002 and a heck of selection for 2003 that are supposed to have even more refinements.....with some brand new models in that 34-36&quot; range.
If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask here or via e-mail.....I have experience with the entire line-up.
Good luck!

Rack Rambler, I agree with Matt, completely. I have 3 of them. Mighty Mite, Patriot, P38 dual cam. I love the MM as a hunting bow. I also looked at the T29 and felt the MM was the easier shooting bow of the two. My bro-law shot mine & bought one, also. Other people that have shot it get this &quot;how can this shoot so nice & quiet, that fast?&quot; look. I like the weight of the MM. It is easy to carry; I like to still hunt. Yet it still holds plenty steady. I'm no great shot, but I can wreck arrows out to 35 yds. At normal hunting range, it's a slam dunk. I think the most telling comment was made to my bro-law when he had his set up (I got the bare bow for him). The shop that dressed & set it up said, after shooting it, &quot; Why don't we sell these bows?&quot;. They sell three other major brands. I'd suggest you shoot a MM, if you haven't. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Good luck.
BTW, to answer your last question, BOWTECH.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Phil.
&quot;Could you guys be quiet, my dad's trying to shoot.&quot;<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Just a little information on the rebate Matt spoke about...The rebate deal ends Oct.31st so times running out.

Rack Rambler, I have a few BowTech's myself... I still hunt with a 2000 Mighty Mite. The 2001 and newer have better strings and Sand Trap limb pockets...

I'm currently shooting a Generation 3.2 and a Pro 38 for 3-D and I also have a Pro 38 Dual Cam to shoot some spots sometime...

Best thing to do is go to a shop and try em all. Shoot em all and then base your own opinion and react on your feelings.

BowTech does build a great bow and they seem to pay quite a bit of attenton to detail and they stand behind their product...

IMHO, you can't go wrong with a BowTech but you also must realize any bow will only shoot as good as the guy behind it...Hey maybe that's what's wrong with mine...The nut behind it....

Salutations!

Two Mighty Mites were included among the half dozen or so Bowtechs I have owned.

I must admit after shooting them for awhile, I’m not much of a fan of the super shorty bows..those in the 3.25 pound range 32” or so in axle to axle. I’m just not that great of an archer and cannot remain consistently accurate with them. However, I’ve owned super shorties from just about every major manufacturer, and the MM is near if not AT the very top..

It’s extremely accurate(In fact I shot a robinhood with both of Mighty Mites), and smoking fast (I was getting 306 FPS w/ a 29”, 70 pound bow/352 grain arrow with tru-peep, leeches, and a loop on the string). With a set of limbsavers and good stabilizer, noise and recoil were hardly objectionable.

However, unless you really feel that 3 inches of axle to axle length, and half pound will make or break your hunt, I highly suggest going to one of Bowtech’s Pro series riser bows. In particular the Patriot if you are singlecam fan, or if you can wait till January, the Patriot Dual cam bow.

I found the Patriot nearly as fast as the Mighty Mite & noticeably more forgiving (obviously, it’s heavier and longer) on a day to day basis.

Were I to resume shooting the ultralight/ultra-shorties, the MM would be my fist choice.

At any rate, I have, in the past generally bought anywhere from 5-9 different bows per year…I try everything. Since I started trying Bowtech models in the summer of 2000 I’ve grown increasingly fond of them, and honestly have little desire to buy anything else these days. AFAIC, for a total package of reliability, shootability, and performance I have yet to find anything better, at least in MY hands. In addition, and perhaps more importantly, the company is very accessible, and very attentive to their fan base. They are constantly making meaningful improvements to their line-ups, more-so than any other company I’ve dealt with.

What makes the patriot worth $100.00 more than the mitymite? It looks like a different riser and all, but $100.00 more just because it's different? I don't get it.
But then again I am shooting a 1995/6 Mathews z-light!!!

Dave.....
The Pat is BowTech's &quot;Flagship&quot; bow for 2002......in addition to the longer Pro riser, the technology and R&D to make the 'VFT' limb style work was probably a factor.
I guess if you want the best that a company has to offer in a certain class of bows, you have to &quot;Pay to play&quot;
You see it in every manufacturers line ups.......I wonder what a Mathews Legacy costs in comparison to say an MQ-1?

Nothing wrong at all with your trusty Z-Light she's a classic, but I think if you tried a Patriot, you might find a way to &quot;Justify&quot; the $$$.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

They all still just fling an arrow, but boy has the technology changed in just a short 6-7 years since your bow came out! Resist shooting these new bows as much as possible tho, once you get hooked it becomes very addicting and dangerous to a long and healthy marriage!<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

DaveC, The reason being is that the Patriot (and all the other Pro riser bows) is a fully CNC machined riser and it starts out as a 22 or 24 lb T-6 aluminum billet. Even the Rascal is a fully machined riser, that's why it's a little pricey for a kids bow...It's built from the same components as the adult bows...

The Mighty Mite, Tech 29, ESD, Extreme Solo, Stalker/Lite, BlackHawk, TomKat are all extruded/machined T-6 aluminum risers.

The cost of a fully machined riser is quite a bit more to build...Raw materials and machining...

Got it. Sounds like a good enough reason to me.

Matt/Pa- your right about test shooting a new one = bad for the marrage.
I was waiting to get a new bow until after we (the wife and I) bought our new house. Then I decided to wait until the savings got built back up.
And then Wammo....baby on the way & wife wants to stay home (don't blame her). So all new toys are on hold. New bow, new fourwheeler, new truck. On hold. Oh- well it will be worth it.

But when the day comes, you can bet I'll be looking into a BowTech along with the rest of the big dogs.
