Default Bowfishing Triathalon

400 miles of driving, one day of bowfishing from a boat and one day of bowfishing from shore.

Okay, it wasn't really a triathalon... but it was a busy weekend.

Went to the Illinois River at Henry, IL first. Met with a bunch of cool bowfishers. The weather was rough tho'. 20-30mph winds, then brief periods of sun... then more wind. Saw a few jumping Asian silver carp. Nothing I could draw the bow on though.

Next day we went to a shore bowfishing tourny organized by Grant Wyffels of Geneseo, IL. The shoot was along the Hennepin Canal.

We had a great time despite more crummy weather. Highs in the 40's.. more wind and lots of clouds.

I went only with the goal of smoking Bowman157 (Steve) and boy did he get whupped.

Grant did a most excellent job of putting the shoot together. Almost 300.00 was raised for Sportsmen Against Hunger. I was very impressed.

The pavilion were we met. Note the typical warm-weather attire we are all wearing... brrr!!!!!

Grant checking some bowfishers in. He was very organized.

The winning team of Jaime Harrington and Aaron Desplinter with their 19 carp. (Mr Grant Wyffels is holding the carp)

Second place team... Yours truly and my hubby Jim. We took out 13 scaly invasives. Did I mention I outshot Bowman?

The board. (proof that I outshot Bowman)

This is either Ben or Dan. (he was shy) One of those two shot a 16lb carp which won the big fish pot. Congrats!

Bulzeye (Chris) and his Dad. I wish I had the picture of Chris hanging by a branch, half in the canal... trying to retrieve a carp and arrow tangled on a log. (he got it done..)

The NE IL contingent. From the left.. Chris (bulzeye), Me, Steve (Bowman), Chris's Dad Richard.

Bowman157 .... I think his partner shot most all of those carp.. heh heh

An Amish organic farmer took the carp.

Hey, did I mention I outshot Bowman??

Thanks TCooll and Deadeye.

Fishy, we have more shoots coming up. You should check them out. Particularly the state championship at Shelbyville. Illinois State Bowfishers

Fish, I got a lot of distance out of those photos we took last year in MO. They're on the Illinois site, the WI bowfishing site, I think they were published for a printed article...

See you in Branson tomorrow! (time to whup your butt now Fishy)
