Default Lake Shelbyville Pics

A couple of pics anyhow.

Some blurry ones.... my digital doesn't do so well in the dark.

We had a smallish turn out. E.J.D's mother was in the hospital. Jeremy ran off to GA. Bulzeye just plain wussed out.

I think some others were there... but they were on the wrong end of the lake.

Our sign... a lot of people drove by the campsite just to see what was going on.

Anyhow. We had a lot of fun. Bowfisher Dave and his better half Joanne were awesome hosts. They picked out a great campsite that overlooked the lake so you could walk right over to the boats. They also cooked up a great fish dinner, complete with baked beans and homemade fries. They had enough food to feed two dozen people. Since there were only about 6 of us.... we all had to pig out.

Dr Rob caught mid-chew.... heh heh

We went out Friday night/Saturday morning. It was only the second time we tested our lights and generator. Here's a view of the 4 500watt halogens attached to the underside of our deck. Note the little green/red front light we have to have on the boat as per the law.

Which is pretty funny because this is what the boat looks light from the front.

The fish were pretty easy to find with the lights. The gar were all over. You could get right up on them at night. (that didn't mean they were any easier to hit) After a bit I had my first-ever gar in the boat.

Here's a gar at the edge of the lights... the little squiggles are little fishies.

Here's a gar right next to the boat.

Jim and I after a night of pillaging.

Dr Rob's boat with Bowfisher Dave and Jeff aboard. (they're there... really)

We went out during the day too.

(that's Jeremy's frisbee which I abducted.... it was the next best thing to having him in the boat)

Boat pics....

Bowfisher Dave's boat. A 16' Lowe. Check out that trolling motor.

Dr. Rob's boat. A spiffy 18ft Triton.

Our boat, also a 16ft Lowe like Daves.... only much more beat up. We also have the cheapo halogens... and on the trip back one of the lights broke a weld and fell off. (at 2am, doing 75mph with some Tool cranked up on the truck stereo... you can still hear a halogen light fall off of your boat.... oops)

It was a great time, I can highly recommend Shelbyville as a bowfishing destination.

Thanks again to Dave for the food, tent, air mattress, sleeping bags and hospitality!!

That does look like a good time!
Seems like that was the most boats we had yet.
Things are growing.

Sorry I couldn't be there.
Darned wives.

One of these days, I'm going to get a shot at a gar.
Looks like Shelbyville would be a good spot to do it.

Naner boy... er... bulzeye, you gotta show up to shoot em!

My frisbee probably tells better stories (hence the larger number of fish you hauled in).

Looks like it was a lot of fun... except for that early morning thing!

WOW! what a difference the lights make, as well as that quiet Honda generator... which also makes a great pilaging target... heh heh heh
