Personally if I was spending 75 to 100 dollars on a bow for bowfishing, I'd get a recurve. There are only a couple compounds I would bowfish with. You ought to be able to find a old compound for around 20 bucks at a garage sale

BigJim's right; I'd go with a recurve. Something in the 40-50lb range would be great. Alot of people shoot lighter poundage and do just fine. I shoot a 55lb recurve most of the time, but I like taking longer shots than most.

And, as BigJim said, you can find a compound for alot less than $75-$100 at garage sales or even archery pro shops. I have a nice little Jennings that's perfect for bowfishing, and I paid $35 for it at a garage-sale. Look for something that has wheels instead of cams. They're easier to draw fast. And look for something a little longer axel-to-axel, so the string doesn't pinch your fingers.

the beast thing to do in my opnion is to go to a pawn shop and buy yourself a 30$ bow and set it up_____________about the aiming bit its not really aiming its more instinct you just kind of judge where the fish is in relation with where you think your arrow will go.......for every foot deepin the waterthe fish is shoot a foot under him=if the fish is 3 feet deep shot 3 feet below him.......the reason for that is the refraction from the water makes the fish look further up than he really is..when you shoot your first time you'll understand what im saying=====just rember SHOOT LOW!!!
