Default Ok, I'm making my first trip.....

I've never been bowfishing before, but am leaving next Friday for a weekend of fun on the water. I've got an old Bear Whitetail II I'm going to put a bottle on, and I'll of course make up a few fish arrows. What do you guys recommend as far as rest, release, and sight?

Logic tells me simple is better here, so I'm thinking of shooting fingers, off the shelf, with no sights.....Is that the best way?

Yea thats probably your best bet. You will catch on to it pretty quick especially being an avid bow hunter. Just remember to aim low! Make sure you know what kind of fish your shooting at as well, you don't want to be pulling up any bass[]. That bow will get heavy after a while, especially if your walking the banks. Ya'll going on a boat? If so, at night with lights?

If you really get into it I would suggest investing in a recurve. But we can cross that bridge when we get there. Good luck and I know you will have a blast.

get some no-glovs for the string. It will save your fingers.
