Default Shadzilla!

Well, my quest to capture a key-chain gar with a cast-net wasremarkably unsuccessful...

Where as on Sunday, I was basically having to shoot in self-defense, 24 hrs later and 20 degrees cooler there were hardly any gar to be found.

Guess they were stacked-up on the bottom or something.

Tried abt 30 'blind' casts and got nothing more interesting than a few bluegills (and I know better than to put those vicious little b*#tards in with my tropical fish again) and as bad as they are at nipping fins, baby Tilapia are even more aggressive... the two I had, years back, had to be evicted after maybe two days.

A buddy of mine put the baby Tilap's in his African Cichlid tank and had to flush them for bad behavior after a day or two. You would expect vegans to be more peaceful?!

Anyway, I vented some of my frustration on this fillet-O-fish sized shad, back at the spillway.

Are these things any good to eat?

Later!
BP

Ditto. I use gizard shad on my trout lines. An even better catfish bait is the thread fine shad. I wouldnt eat a gizard shad. Im sure you could, but I dont want to try any.

As for gar, ive raised needle nose in a 200 gallon tank. Not all that exciting of fish. You would enjoy something like an arrowanna better.

shad's only good for bait. i think i'd rather eat a buzzard before a shad.
