for now just convert the old one unless you just have the money to spend. my recurve is 45 lbs, your bow might be a little stron at 61, so turn it down as far as it can go.

i just take fish with my 30# bow i use for hunting rabbits, i one time took a 9 pound basss at the shore, i got in waist deep and shot it threw the back. i say bowfishing isn't complex just grab a deent bow and take aim at some fish at the shore, thats all i do and i end up comin home with fish for dinners and such. as long as your hunting tool kills it really doesn't matter, as long as you got food on the table

you do know that is not legal here in texas right? the only legal game fish you can take while bowfishing is a catfish

I like 40 -50 pounds for fish, although I've don it with as little as 20 at close range.
