personally i use muzzy and never had any problems. i started out with the quick release carp point but felt more comfortable with the Muzzy Stingray point. i've gotten many big gar and asian carp with it and never had any problems, even got a 54 lb paddlefish with no problem.

Why use a Muzzy broadhead?? Use a Muzzy fish point, they are a bit safer.

Do you mean an actual broadhead, or a fish point? If using a muzzy carp/gar point, you can buy some music wire at the same diameter and make longer barbs.

Fish pulling off isn't always the arrow point's fault. Carp are very soft in the belly and pull-offs are going to happen if you shoot them there. Make sure you're getting good penetration with the arrow and work on good shot placement (easier said than done!). The best way to get good at shooting into water is to keep doing it. I've found that if I'm getting a lot of pull-offsI like toswitch to a Sting-A-Ree. You can get them now with a Muzzy point. Just make sure it doesn't turn while retrieving the fish causing the barbs to fold down prematurely. However, I have no complaints for the standard Muzzy points.

I met a guy at the IL Deer and Turkey Classic show this last weekend that bowfishes the 'really old school' way. He wades a creek that is only a footdeep, and shoots fish with a regular hunting broadhead. Thenhis wifechases down the impaled fish and drags it to the bank by hand. No line. No reel. Just a stuck fish, and a splashing good time.

His wife was with him, and she said it's a lot of fun to go running after the fish. I think I'll keep using a more conventional setup, but who knows.
Anybody want to chase fish for me? Could be fun. [:-]

Wow. I hope he's using a dull broadhead.

I don't imagine it's sharp for more than a shot or two.
but what I really want to know is where he found that fish chasing wife of his!

I told him I was nominating him for Man of the Year because he must be doing a whole lot right at home to get her to do that for him.

He said that he's tried all of the different types of reels, but it's just not the same.
