how to set up boat

How would you set up a 14ft johnboat. Would like to put shooting platform. Worried about tip over. All help I will thank you now. Will have boat at end of week. Uncle wants it out of his yard.

I learned how to bowfish out of a 48" X 12' jon. With 2 of us and a barrel of fish, things got interesting! In my opinion if you really want a deck, don't build it higher than the sides of the boat. Just fill in the front with some plywood. If you're wanting to bowfish at night, you don't need to be high up and it's easy to mount lights to the plywood. Some people like high platforms, but I've gotten used to being only a couple of feet off the water.

wut mark said, andif it is at night put the generator in the back so it will counter some of the weight. i shot in a smaller boat before and three of standing in front made us take on water, but the generator was more in the middle of the boat

If it is a 1448 flatbottom you will be ok just put a flat deck on the front not raised and keep the generator in the bottom of the boat and keep as much wait low as you can I shot out of a 1648 for years and we did fine
