Default Traditional Setup

Now that I am a red neck again I am looking to get my own bowfishing gear. I am bidding on a few recurves on Ebay. Do I have to use that rubber band looking mount for the AMS or can I drill holes through the cheap bow I get on ebay?

We went last night and got 6 gar, missed about 60!

Lance, you were always a Redneck.

Congrats onthe gar, glad to see you out shootin' fish!

You can drill right into the bow. You can get threaded inserts even, but I've seen them just screwed right to the bow.

The rubberband mount is for the pretty bows.

What's wrong with hose clamps and electrical tape?

drill away. #10 bolts work great. Got four "cheapies" set up that way. Just don't use wood screws - they will pop out eventually.

One more question I am trying to get a smaller bow for some kids, is a 20# draw enough to penetrate the water and the fish?

I turned my bowfishing bow down to 29lbs.

20lbs is plenty if the fish are shallow and not particularly huge. You can also cut down the fish arrows to lighten them up if the kids' draw length is short enough.
