Default New Browning Barracuda Bow???

Has anyone shot the browning barracuda bow yet? 32" axle length, 40# draw weight, and no letoff. Great for snap shots, It comes with or without the fishing setup. My bowshop was raving about it today?

I've never shot one, but Fred at F&D Archery says they're great.

Only 32" ?
Ouch.

I my deer compound that I shoot with fingers is 36", and that is too short when I shoot a lot in one day. Of course some of that can be blamed on my 31" draw length. Darned ape arms. Always dragging on the ground.

I think putting the NoGluvs on it would help round out the string valley a bit. Add some Mechanix gloves and you're set.

I spent Thursday morning setting one up for a friend of mine. The dual cam makes it a little more sensitive to set up. It shot fast, was quick handling, and was very light. However, the short axle to axle makes for a very sharp angle on the fingers. I personally did not like it. My friend has big, thick fingers and is used to shooting split fingers with no-gloves on a recurve. We put them on, but the nock pinch due to his fingers and the no-gloves caused very erratic arrow flight. We finally had to put both the no-gloves under the nock so he could shoot 3 fingers under style like I do. Viola, the arrow flew straight!

I much prefered my Oneida or recurve to this bow. I think I'm glad I did not buy one. If it were 35 inches or so, it would be much better.

If you haven't already bought a Barracuda, you might want to check out the AMS Fishhawk. It has a 35.5" axle to axle length.

Although he is having some trouble with getting 25 and 50 lb limbs in stock for it, you might take a look at Newberry's Spike. It is 34.5 inches long and a whole lot cheaper than the AMS. He told me last week that he has 40 lb limbs in stock right now, which is just about perfect for bowfishing on a compound, since you can adjust them down 10 or 15. Ask for the "Spike Cam" and you'll have a no-let off cam like the AMS and FishHawk. In fact, it was designed at first for bowfishing, but he is putting out the other limbs for youth bows. He can get it coated in just about any color you like, including blue: http://www.newberrybows.com/Spike.html
