Default Baitin' Bowfin

Getting bowfin in the shallows is what I need to do. Catch alot of them here on chicken livers in about 10'/15' of water, Muddy bottoms. I'd like to know if anyones ever tried baitin' for them? I got alot of deer meat that needs to be chucked so I was thinking why not throw it in a minnow trap along with chicken livers and shrimp and throw that in the shallows/mud flats..... Thinkin' that would bring'em out of the deeper water. Any thoughts or experience doing this????

I also heard of people eatin' these critters. They say its real good eatin'...... Just by looking at them Id say I wouldnt even want to fillet them(nasty little things) but I guess I would if you's told me they are worth it. ???
