Default Going Out At Night??

Been reading up a bit on going at night. Sounds pretty good. I got my pops to finally say he's gonna get back into it to. He never heard of that and neither have I. Before we go spend big bucks on equipment for his boat like a platform, halognens and generator, I told him we'll just try it using a spotlight first. Guess that would work ok?? I told him Id like to try the Delaware River, never once bowfished it or seen anyone that did. I know theres some carp and a ****load of bowfin. We plan on going Saterday or Sunday night. Wish us luck. lol

O yeah, went out this past Sunday and got SKUNKED.
I did have a good time though. Wish I had some pics but left the camera home. Took my canoe again but this time I was to lazy to paddle and strapped a 41lbs electric over the side. Boy O' Boy you guys woulda got a kick out of that. Water still very murky and its kinda hard to stand up in the canoe while motoring with one hand, bow in the other and get a quick shot off. Pulled it off only twice, missing both times, wasnt to mad at myself cause the first shot I seen the carp take off and just pulled a shot off in front of it. Second shot was in the shallows and spooked that one too. Could see it coming past me and shot just high. O, why cant it be like last year, nice and clear and you could see the carp all around. That was easy shooting, guess I gotta work for my fish this year....

Didnt try the corn the last time, I actually tried dog food. Went to the shallows and threw a couple cup fulls out. Waited 45 mins to an hour but no luck. Figured they surface a bit so I can see them ugly buggers. Wish you guys knew how dang muddy the water is, got to see if I can take some pics, then you'all would feel sorry for me. lol
Ill try corn next time I go or a day before to try to get them to where I can see them.

Try some smaller tributaries. Here, when the Missouri comes up, the smaller rivers and creeks back up and the dirt drops out of the water since there's no current. A lot of fish prefer the cleaner water and will pack into these side streams. Got into some good action on asian carp this past weekend because of that.

Thanks FishHunter, there is barely any current in the creek I hunt but the Delaware River there is. I know all the back creeks and run offs and they are mostly all clearwater from the little current so I belive we should do pretty good. Can't wait till the weekend, very first night hunt.

How'd ya make out on carp last night KBI?? I tried to go out, got a tad ticked off to find out what happened to a little "sweet spot" I "used" to go for some big grass carp. Ive been hunting a spot that you can barely see 2" under water. Figured Id go to this other spot that have less carp but its very clear water. I havent been there in about 3 years, no one rarely fishes it, got everything loaded up in the truck and headed off. Its about a 40 minute ride. Pull up to the lake, or freakin' mud hole as you could call it now and seen they drained the whole lake. This wasnt a little run off or anything, it was a decent size lake drained to about nothing. To say the least I was fuming, wanted to go over to these gaint pumps they had in the lake and put a few arrows in them........ Now my night was ruined, went to another lake around the area and did some bass fishing. went home and drowned my sorrows in a few beers.

I never had much luck with asian carp at night. They tended to spook from the light, so I've stuck to days. Do they just sit there like regular carp. or is it shooting them on the fringe of the light before they bolt?
