Im still tinkering with the idea of getting a Scout V2 also. I will be shooting sabotless but i really want a 45cal conical shooter in a more compact package too. At $350 for the rifle and around $200 to convert, its about the least expensive option in SS.
I wish they offered one in a 40cal i could convert. The ball would already be rolling. 40cal is the smallest allowed here for deer hunting.

Do you just add a thread protector to remove the brake? One of the guys had his Scout brake bored to .500 and i think he is going to test it with sabots also.
The brake will come in very handy if you plan on shooting a 275gr BE sabotless. Being able to replace it when desired could be a big plus.

In my Pacnor i shot upto 60gr of N120 and a 200gr bullet. That load is over 2700fps easily in my longer barrel and quite safe IN A SML (34kpsi)
You should be able to go down to 55gr no problem but a heavier bullet would be a good idea to keep the pressure up a tiny bit.
Reloder7 also works well and its a little easier on the sabots. Little more temp stable too because its double based. Its just dirty and might need swabbing at the range.
