Bison for a bison
I received a NIB .504 Bison , bedded and a trigger job .
I was planning on keeping it unfired but I might just have to change my mind and use it
I am going on a buffalo ( Bison ) hunt in January .
I am partial to the 451 and a lot of buffalo fell to the 45/70 but I was thinking of upping the energy factor anyway by using a .504 and the 600 gr power punch conical . Besides using the White Bison just seems a fitting tribute for a bison hunt . Range will be 100 to 150 yards on average. Guess I have a month to figure it out and decide if I really want to step up from .451 to the .504 .

Says the one NOT on the receiving end of that recoil!
Chet, you been on the receiving end of some whoppers in your days I'm sure. But do you really want to go through that crap? 10 or so shots and 2 days of packing ice on yer shoulder just don't sound like a whole hell of a lotta fun to me there buddy. Absolutely no need to go to a 600 grain both side killer. Use one of Ed's "No Excuses" .504 460 grain over around 70-75gr BH or 80-85gr T7 and go watch a Bison go nini.
