Default 100 yards with Thor - Reduced Recoil

I started at 50 to zero in, but I will not bother with those pictures.

I did however start with 80gr BH209 at 50 yards and it was a decent group, 1 3/4" and I was happy until I tried 100gr BH209.

I was shooting a CVA Wolf with a 1:28 twist and was told these bullets were for 1:48 twists.

Regardless, these tiny 180gr TRR's shoot flat out tight groups at 50 and 100 yards with 100gr BH209! Reduced Recoil was a big thing I noticed right off as my shoulder wasn't flaring up and spasming like it does after a few heavy recoil shots.

There is one thing that is KILLER. Scope adjustments are super sensitive with this little bullet.

At 100 yards I was aiming at the middle black target and hitting the bottom right target. I adjusted 16 clicks up and 12 to the left and it put me all the way on the TOP left target!

8 clicks to the right and 6 down put me almost center and right on top of the bullets eye, Aprox 1 1/2" above the bulls eye. I adjusted it down another 4 clicks since I am reloading to try the 160's.

Darn that second shot!!

Alright, the 160's didnt do that great. 3 1/2" at 100 yards. I will try 80gr BH209 next time and see if that does the trick, or if I have to speed it up with 110-120 BH209.

MD, try knurling both the 180's and the 160's. I suspect they may be slipping in the sabot. I'd just about bet you will get improvement on both. Also, you said on the other thread that the 180's loaded "snug". How did the 160's feel? Is your wolf on the larger side or smaller side on bore? As in comparison to a TC barrel. I know my daughters new Impact is a tight little sucker. Even tighter than my PH .50cal barrel. Haven't slugged it yet but I am figuring it is right on .500 MAYBE .501. Had to just about jump up and down on those older TC shockwave 300gr to get it started. Wouldn't mind trying either one of those for her if they perform well. Want to get as much range as I can for her without the heavy recoil.

The 160s loaded the same. The wolf takes a .500" thor perfectly with nice even pressure.

The 180 with 80gr bh209 was a real chuckle. I started to giggle stupidly because the recoil was so light LOL. Then I shot that group at 100 yards and said words a sailor probably hasnt said! I didnt expect that kind of accuracy from the 180s.

Darn it MD. Talking about these bullets you're gonna make me try them and also break down and get some more BH209!

Bought 2 cans a week or 2 ago. Dang stuff is expensive! Have those new ones come up on the market yet? May try the 180's for her. Don't want to go TOO light with the 160's. The deer over here are pretty good sized so she will need some thump. She hammered a big bodied buck this past year with those 220gr Bloodlines out of my TC Hawken with a GM barrel but until I get some more MMP Orange sabots I can't see if she can use them in that tight bored Impact. Those 220 BL's are .458's. Tom sent me a boat load of them with that rifle. Hey, worse comes to worse I can always load them up in the SOCOM cases and destroy some hogs

Not yet, he still has to have them plugged with the ballistic tip. I recovered 2 of the 160's from the range. They hit a soupy muddy mess and completely opened up like a flower.

Check out MidwayUSA.

You can buy the 160gr or 185gr C.O.P. bullets for under 50 cent each in 50 packs. I like a the 225gr better. Its only 56 cent each.

BIG improvement with the 160s today at 100 yards. This is such a puny recoil load that it was like firing squib shots LOL.

70gr BH209, 160gr Thor, supplied sabot. 100 yards. Shots 1 and 3 are touching.

Sorry about all the tiny holes. My nephew bought his first AR and apparently didn't listen to my advice to take 3 shots and then go check the target
