Default Semi has nice balls!

I packed up my .58 Rene caplock and .50 Accura V2 today to go shooting. It was overcast but not raining. But as I pulled up to the shooting area it started to drizzle and the wind was picking up to about 15-20 mph. Grrrr. I got to get this done. Archery season starts tomorrow. I grabbed the target and set it up at 100 yards. I figured the Accura was on so I shot the Rene first. I shot as fast as I could swab and load. After each shot (both rifles) I swabbed with and alcohol patch both sides then both sides of a dry patch. The Rene seemed to like the .575" balls Semisane sent me and 100 gr of Pyro RS and .020" pillow tick patch with olive oil lube. That's 5 shots @ 100 yards with a T/C peep sight on the tang. That's a 3" orange dot and the 5 balls were 2" C-C. I do believe this is going to be my black bear rifle this season.
The V2 shooting the same 100 gr load with the 300 gr .429 XTPs and a Leupold scope also shot a 2" group. I dropped the load down to 90 gr for the V2 and got a 1.6" group. I'll take a 25% improvement any day. By this time the rain started coming down faster so I had to pack up and leave.
BTW - How do you guys like my home made shoot-N-C target?

Oops....575". Yeah a .535" would need a little thicker patch!
What really impressed me is not so much how well the .58 shot with PRBs and a peep. But how well it did up against a scoped inline with a sabot and jacketed bullet.
Although 2" isn't really nothing to scoff at, looking at my load log it appears, as much as I hate to do it, that I will have to go get me some BH209. My log shows 90 gr of BH grouping the XTPs at .93" - 1.11".

Excellent shooting there! Semisane was kind enough to send me some of the .575 and I tried them in my GMB .58 with 110 grains of 2f Black Powder and they were excellent and accuracy was exceptional. Not quite as good as you, but I blame that on me.

Thanks guys. I was going to stop at 3 shots and call it good. The first 3 were the outlying holes. But then I said to myself - What the heck. When I shot the last 2 I was elated to find they filled in the 'void' in the center of the group.
I'm using this .58 for both deer and bear this year. We have an early ML season Oct 17-24 where we can take a doe only so this .58 will be in my hands. I think too if I don't shoot a buck during archery season I will use it during our regular firearms season. And I will be carrying it for our black bear season too if I don't arrow one the week prior. And if I miss - it won't be the rifle's fault.
