Default Elk

Opening day - Archery season was this morning and my neighbor got out and even had time to check one of our trail cameras. We have not been able to get to them because Potlatch has closed their lands due to fire danger. Cam and his son walked into an area adjacent to the camera locations this morning hunting National Forest. They slipped in this camera right on the edge of National Forest.

These pictures are all from 7-26 so they are old but they surely show a lot of promise! The series of pics starts with this one...

But it is only a few minutes until this collection of Racks occurs...

Things are looking up!

I have never seen an elk in any of Southern Michigan's Huron National Forest. Only ones I've ever seen are at Sportsman Reserves.

I once took aim on a black & white cow marching thru the swamp. Luckily he moooed me.

Nice pics and that is a pretty good 6x6. I wouldn't mind drawing back on that boy myself.
