The smooth seems to work fine for most people. It wont work with a jacketed .458 though. You would need to use a regular sizing die first to get it to around .452. A soft lead .454 may go through it just fine.

Using it mainly on Parkers and sst's . Interestingly the 1:20 knight that i use takes the exact same size as the Mcgowen barrel . I bought it mainly for the Douglas 1:18 though

My Parkers are the rebranded Traditions and like the older Parkers they measure .4505 which is a teeny weeny bit too big for my Super DISC or Pacnor 45. I have to size to .4495 and knurl up which is a little bit of hassle.

I had a oddity come up though, long term spring back. If i left sized bullets alone for a month+ they sprang back more ever so slightly. Almost enough for a perfect fit. I may try to polish my Lee die a little to see if i can get .0005 larger on the finished bullets.

BTW size for a fouled bore. It will save you a ton of aggravation.

the old parkers were pretty much a perfect fit. package to bore , now that he standardized to .451 I have to size them a little. I remember them Traditions APB 100 . They were a good fit . You sent me a couple packs a couple years ago. I think they were .4495. I remember I had to knurl them . Then I decided to skip the sabotless stuff for a while. Now I have decided to go back to sabotless for long range shooting , especially in my fast twist guns. Mostly for target shooting. Hence the sizer.

Considering how well sabotless is doing at Friendship with full power loads, it looks to be a worthy candidate for hunting also..... Especially in states that don't allow 40cal bullets in 45cal sabots.

In my Pacnor 45 its down right nasty. 2500fps+ is a cake walk even with a 300gr bullet. Personally thats a bit too much recoil and i dont need that kind of load for my typical hunting ranges. BH209 will easily get a 300gr moving faster than most sabot loads in a 50cal.

IIRC mine was just barely breaking 2100fps with a 275gr Parker and 110grV or 115grV of BH209. IMO the 275gr BE does a bit better holding together at this speed too if the shots are close.
