My son emailed me a picture of one his friend caught and released in Cayuga lake. He didn't take it out of the water, but he said it was at least 5+ feet long and it definitely appeared so in the picture I saw.

I love sturgeon fishing but I like catfishing a little more.

Yea Ron, I'm with you on that... Catfish are a blast!! We fish them here on the Susquehanna in both NY and PA. I've caught them on live shiners, cut bait (fresh cut suckers are best) and on crank baits and stick baits while Bass fishing. Most of what we catch are Channel cats in the 4-8 lb. range, but there are much bigger ones swimming in that river. My personal best was a little over 12 lbs. but they're caught in the 15-20+ lb. range here each year by those who fish for them a lot.

Side note...

The lower "Susky", below Harrisburg PA, has been giving up some Flathead Catfish in recent years. They're considered an "invasive" because they're not native to the watershed.
