I am with you Dave, I started muzzle loading with originals that belonged to my Grandfather when I was 12 now I am 77 and I have tried many things, wax especially bees wax will never go in my guns again.

I still use Ballistol. I've never had a problem using it.

As a bee keeper I can say that snow seal which has a bunch of bees wax in it is a great water proofer.
What I would like to know is how would you get the above recipe mix to stay in the bore. Bees wax melts at 140F and I do paint it on some wooden wear when it is liquid and even that I have to keep the wood very warm to get it to stick good. But for the life of me can't see how you get it off the patch and on the metal inside a bore.

It's going to leaving a coating on the bore from the patch like any other patch lube.
