Default Game Camera Photo: What Happened Here?

This is the game camera photo of a deer; buck i think. For some reason that deer took a tumble. This is the only photo of that action.

i'm concerned because poachers often kill deer in velvet in that part of OK. Checked the game camera on the 29th and no more photos of a nice buck that was coming in.

I zoomed in and it appears to be a buck. However why its taking a tumble is anyone's guess. I've seen deer playing around and fall, but that deer appears to have been running.

Sure looks like he took off fast, made it about twenty feet, and went down hard. Did you search for blood sign?

Yes.

The photo was taken on 14 August. Checked the game camera on 29 August. There had been a good rain a few days before my visit. Wish the game camera had been set to take several quick photos.

Maybe he is just dusting like a turkey. Do deer do that? I have seen horses and cows do it. Just guessing.

I'm thinking poachers pal. Deer don't take tumbles in the woods for nothing!

I agree.. It looks like it took one heck of a hit in the neck area and that caused it to take a quick nose dive.. Someone wanted some early deer meat..

i think so too. The adjacent property is being farmed by a well known scumbag and game poacher. This stuff happens there every year: Every year there are photos of promising bucks that disappear before deer season.

i just off the phone to the game warden.
