Default favorite .54 load for fast twist

guys I am trying to find out where to start with a bullet or bullet/sabot combo for my LK Knight .54. Any suggestions for recommended bullet weights. My only experience with the 54 is PRB.

Purple sabot 54/50 , 300 gr. widner 50 caliber jacketed bullet and 120 grains of RS pyrodex. worked for me in 54 system one. Shoot deer in the ribs just behind shoulder shoulder shots destroy both shoulders.

Bronko,

I have a bunch of 54 cal ammo I bought from an auction. I have the 425 Hornady Great Plains Conicals and the Hornady saboted 260 grain copper jacketed XTPs

Both should shoot great out that LK. I'll sell you them on the cheap if you want to get started. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

54x50 MMP Purple or Barnes/MMP Red sabot

275gr Barnes
300gr Speer
325gr Speer
335gr Rainier

Any of the above tend to yield good results on paper and on deer. The 325gr Speer is the bullet Knight used to ship with the 54cals. It performs quite well at mild to mid range speeds. Hornady also has a 50-300gr FTX but i wouldn't recommend them for slower velocities. Its made for 500S&W, the others do ok in the 50A&E range or slightly faster.
