Speer 44 Caliber/240 Grain Deep Curls in the .50 GM-LRH Renegade
Looking through the bullet bag today I found a box of Speer 240 grain .429 diameter Deep Curl Hollow Points. Unfortunately, there were only seven bullets in the box.
Checking my target file for the .50 caliber GM/TC Renegade, I found I have never shot 240 grain bullets from that barrel. So I shot one of the bullets at 25 yards for a rough scope adjustment, then shot three at 50 yards and three at 100 yards.
The load was 85 grains GOEX FFFg with the bullets in Harvester H5044G smooth green sabots.
The 50 and 100 yard targets are below.
I really like that 100 yard group. But I need to get some more of these bullets to see if it's repeatable with a couple of five-shot groups. If it is, this may be the hunting load for .50 Renne next season. (Assuming someone gets them in stock between now and next October).

You sure are a good trigger puller! My hunting load this year, and next, will be the same bullet, but with a crush rib sabot, and 90g of an unmentionable powder. There are almost 4 full boxes of them 44 caliber 240g Deep Curl hollow point bullet here. How many do you want? You can't have all of them!

Same gun yeoman. But the 240's were shot after the 270's and I shot one 240 at 25 yards and made a sight adjustment before shooting the two 3-shot groups at 100 yards.

I loaded a bunch of them over 5 grains of W231 for my .44 Special 3" barrelled ROSSI revolver and they did really well.

I did try them in my X7 Bronko. They didn't impress me in that gun. But I didn't do a lot of load experimentation. Never tried in the Renegade knowing I wouldn't use them for hunting anyway.
