I purchased a TC impact and it has the Cabela's Powderhorn scope on it. When reading up on the scope, the rectical is set for zero'd at 100 yards, with the lower marks at 150 and 200 yards. That is with a 250 Sabot and 150g Triple 7.

My question is, since I will be doing most of my shots around 100 -120 yards max, any ideas what i should sight in at using the 250 sabot and 2 50gr pellets?

Just sight it in at 100 yards with that load and you are good to go . Forget using the BDC reticle . Just use the crosshairs

I recommend setting your "0" at 100yds if you should have a long shot then us a laser range finder and the BDC retical. Most deer are taken at less than 50 yds.
An other thing you might consider is switching to Blackhorn 209; 115 grains will give you the trajectory and usally shoots well out of the TC guns and you do not wipe between shots as is necessary for 777.

Don't buy in to the magnum hype. My elk load is 95 gr of 777. 100 gr is more than enough and is easier on your shoulder and pocketbook

I agree with 1874sharpshooter. Sight-in your ML for 2-3 inches high at 100 yards and you can aim dead on out to approximately 175. The other poster that said "don't buy into the magnum hype" is correct also. There's no need for 150 grains of powder. All the guys in our ML group use 2 pellets. I refuse to use BDC type scopes in order to avoid the confusion. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I took it out again last night with a friend. The boresighting had me shooting 2" high and 1.5" to the right. I shot 3 rounds and was able to cut a 3 shot grouping at 60 yards not even the width of 2 rounds. I used 2 x 50gr Triple 7 pellets and Remington 209 primers. I took a couple shots across the river at a stump ranged at 190 yards. Without adjusting from the boresighting, I was sitting 6" high and 6" right. 2 shots with a grouping of maybe 1".

So off to the range next week to get it sighted in bang on and then to wait till mid Sept to go bag my first ML deer.

Thinking of sighting in 1" high at 100 yards as I very rarely ever find myself trying to lob shots out to huge distance. Those were my younger days and now I enjoy the thrill of calling that buck in to withing 50 yards or closer.

Mike - experiment with different bullets and don't be inclined to stick with 250 gr bullets. Also, if you use loose powder and a powder measure you can vary your loads and not be limited to the 2 or 3 pellet load. You can adjust your loads in 10 (or even 5) gr increments until you find your rifle's sweet spot.
Sight in at 100 yds and if you have the range, check your other reticles to see how they hit at 125 and 150 and 200 if you get acceptable accuracy.
