I will soon be 57. I didn't get actively interested in the sport as early in my life as many of you but I am sure into it now.

I got my first muzzleloader 32 years ago and never looked back. But since getting a 45-70 Sharps I have to admit cartridge guns are fun to.

Im 50, I own several MLer's and use nothing but a MLer for all my Hunting. I Love Hunting with a MLer. We dont need to take a special course in NY for hunting with a MLer, they have brought up the idea though, for now you just need your regular big game license to hunt with one.

I bought my first ML when I was (I think) 56; I'm now 63. I bought it because I wanted to hunt another deer season and hunting rifle season with my scoped rifle was almost too easy. So I bought a traditional caplock with open sights (scopes aren't allowed during ML season here); I am now considering buying a flintlock now that I'm getting very comfortable with my caplock.

Well I never got into muzzleloading to extend my season. When I started using a muzzleloader there was no muzzleloader season. Center fire or modern season was too boring. I'd sit in my stand with my 30-06 or 7mm Remington Mag, the deer would cross the field, I'd pick out a nice one, shoot it, and go home. I changed over to a .54 caliber Renegade (my first muzzle loader and still one of my favorites) and things sure changed. I really had to hunt after that.

I currently have way too many muzzleloaders. More then a person needs. but I have sold a few recently and give some away. So I am starting to get better.

I just cut up some long johns for rags the other day that i know were older than MD.
