Default Mountaineer Came Monday

The first thing i noticed was how pretty the rifle is. The second thing i noticed was i cannot get my face low enough to look through the factory iron sights. This rifle will need a scope before it can be shot. After the bolt was installed, i found the trigger to be favorable, and similar to the trigger in the Omega(s).

The 'wide' trigger feels good to the finger.

W209 primer were measured, and put into the bolt; bolt was closed, and the primer measured again. The primer was 'crushed' 0.007". I guess there shouldn't be much blow by. Perhaps this is an example of how a bolt is helpful. Without a scope, inserting the primer is easy.

The breech plug was removed, cleaned and installed, and removed, and installed a few times. There may have been some grit in the threads at first, but it was not an issue, and now the plug threads in and out smoothly. Next step is to mount a scope, and head for the hills.

Fun times ahead Ron. That's a nice pair of in-lines.

All you will ever need are those two (plus a set of sidelocks in .45, .50, .54 and .58. ).

Man that sucks big time that the open sights aren't useable. Pretty gun though.

Isn't it! Kinda surprised me the X7 with scope, sling, and loaded with 120g BH, and 300g Deep Curl was half pound lighter.

Ron congrats on the new Mountaineer. I think you will find that the gun balances real well and the extra weight is not that noticeable. It is sure a pretty rifle. Again, congrats.
