Today i set out to be as scientific as i could. What i did was get a comparison of speeds from two different diameter flame channel. The plugs shown; one with a 5/32" diameter flame channel, the other with a 1/8" diameter flame channel.
The laboratory. Elevation about 4700', temperature between 18 degrees and 26 degrees, range to clock 12 yard, range to target 100 yard. There was zero breeze during the shooting.
The data was collected using a V2 with a 4X scope, loaded with 270g Deep Curl, 110g BH209, green Harvester sabot, and STS primer. The first shot was taken on a cold clean barrel through the 5/32" flame channel, then the breech plugs were exchanged. Second shot was made using the plug with the 1/8" flame channel, and the plugs exchanged. The third shot was made through the 5/32" channel, and etc., etc. After 20 shots the data collection was stopped.
The data.
............5/32"...........................................1/8"
Averages are as shown. Also, the average of the last five speeds for each channel is calculated and shown.
The target. Top target punched using the 5/32" channel. Middle target done by the 1/8" channel.
The QRBP is kinda handy for this kinda shooting. Too bad the V2 trigger has a little creep for the shooter to deal with.
