This morning i removed the sights, and installed a scope on the Christmas rifle. The rifle with scope weighs near 7 1/4#. Then headed for the hills, and loaded 300g Deep Curl, 110g BH, crush rib sabot, and W209 primer. The temperature was about 40, elevation was 4700', and there was a strong swirly breeze.
Shots 1,2, and 3 made from near 50 yard, adjusting scope between each shot. Shots 4, 5, and 6 taken from 100 yard using the same scope adjustment. Scope was adjusted right and down, before a move to 200 yard.
For shot 7, 8, 9, the aim was the middle target. After shots 7, 8, and 9, the scope was adjusted down some more. The aim for shot 10, 11, 12 was the bottom target. Between shots 10, 11, and 12, an attempt was made to gauge the breeze, and fire in kinda lull. The time taken between shots was increased, and the barrel allowed to cool some. After shot, 11, there appeared soot between the cup and anvil of the primer. Seems it wouldn't hurt to enlarge the flame channel to 5/32". The blow back was zero until shot 11; the fit of the W209 primer is perfect perfect in this rifle.
After shot 12, the scope was adjusted down some, in preparation for the next trip to the range. Trigger on this rifle is virtually perfect.
