I saw Mountain Magics post and since I have gotten into inline shooting figured it was time to pull these out too! I have two Hawkens I inherited from my Dad to which I never fired. Always wanted to and I asked for MM'shelp. I have Lyman bullet molds in Conical and ball for this Hawken.
I am just getting into Rifle Muzzle loading. All my experience in Muzzle Loading is with Shotguns for better than 10 yrs and recently some inline shooting with a Genesis 50 cal.
This is a 54 cal Hawkens built in 1972 by Robert D. Reeves is #49. It has a "M.M. Large" stamping on the barrel. The Tiger Maple stock is incredible. I have a range rod but no ram rod for it at this point. Guess I’ll need to get busy.

Then I have a 45 Cal Hawken too. Built in 1975 by Robert D. Reeves #59. I do have a Lyman round ball mold for this gun also. and is Also unfired by me…..

So I am new to this part of the Muzzle Loading game.
I also have a Remington Genesis 50 Cal to which I found I love to shoot more than I thought. So much so my centerfire rifles might be collecting lots of dust now.
So let the fun begin. I will be asking quite a few questions as I try to come up to the level same level of expertise I read about here. I will appreciate all help and comments.
So I pulled thme off the rack and took them apart and scrubbed the barrels on both. My patches are white as from what I have read on how you guys clean.
The guns are now muzzle down for the time being.
