Default Teen Shot In Head By Muzzle Loader From Afar

The teenage Amish girl who was found dead from being shot in the head was not easy to explain at first. But the updated story indicates that it was caused by a muzzle loader being discharged from over 1 mile away.

The updated story:

Errant Bullet Travels 1.5 Miles, Kills Amish Girl

The initial story:

Amish Community Stunned by Shooting Death of Girl

How much energy could that bullet have after traveling that far?
Sad Story.

I would say for them to have found the man, he would have almost turned himself in. What gets me is the no charges filed? What kinda idiot fires a gun into the air, I mean you learn the effects of gravity on an object at a fairly young age. You throw your bottle in the air it falls to the ground.

This guy should be charged with reckless homicide at the very least.

I feel for the family it was a senseless act that has caused them pain.

That is on the border of being unbelievable, if not a bit over the edge. Still, a very tragic event no matter where the bullet came from... 2,640 yards??

I agree UC. I'd sure like to know more about the load that guy had in his muzzle loader.

sounds plausable to me, i have been told that a 45/70 is about the same velocity as we get with a .45 cal with 120 gr. BH209. I have also been told that a 45/70 round could travel 1.5-2 miles depending on air temp, altitude, height of person and angle of gun when fired.

I am sure they have better ballistic guys then us.
