My buddy and I watched this buck over the summer, he never showed during our archery season or during our rifle season. We wondered if mabey he was hit by a car or truck on the thruway as they sometimes do crossing from farm to farm, or possibly another hunger got him, but were sure we would have heard about it because we know all the local hunters, we a tight nit group.
Tonight my buddy and I were hunting a cut corn field, he was in a stand at one end of the field and I was in a stand at the other end. At 4:35 this buck came into the field chasing a doe, my buddy grabbed his TC Oncore, took aim and fired, the buck dropped in his tracks.
He's a main frame 8 pointer with 2 sticker points, a inside spread of 18 1/4" with 10 1/4" G2's and a nice 8" drop tine, a dandy Fram Country NY Buck. I wish it would have been me that got him but Im still happy that one of us was the one to get him. There's still 4 more days left for our late ML Season and 3 more Big Bucks that Im after, this only goes to show never give up anything can happen at any time. I Love Late Season ML Season in NY.
My Buddy used his TC Oncore packed with 150gr's of Pyro Pellets with a 240gr XTP Mag Bullet. The shot was 43 yards and he hit the buck in the neck and stopped on the opposite shoulder, the bullet was just under the skin.
