Default Hawken black powder .50 cal

I was given a black powder rifle from my father several years ago that he got when he was a kid. Recently i got the urge to find out information about it but having a little trouble. From what i can tell, it may be a Hawken but that's about it. Any help on it would be appreciated because the hair trigger is messed up slightly and i'd like to get it fixed.

Dang nzr, that gun looks as though it has never been fired. If it was, someone cleaned it very well and protected it with good oil.

Armsport was an importer and distributor of a wide range of guns, both black powder and cartridge. The Made in Italy marking would lead me to think it was likely made by Investarms. If so, it's a good quality gun and will likely be a good shooter. I'd bet it has a 1:66 rate of twist for round balls. You should check the twist rate. If you don't know how to do that, let us know and we'll divulge the BIG SECRET.

Remove the barrel and see if there are proof marks and other lettering on the bottom flat near the breech. If so, they will tell us the maker and year of manufacture.

As far as the set trigger. It may not be broken, but just in need of adjustment. Remove the trigger guard, and then the trigger plate and see if the set triggers function off of the gun. Pull the rear trigger fully to the rear to see if it sets, then pull the front trigger to see if it releases the bar. There is likely an adjustment screw between the triggers that you can play with to see if you can get it working properly.

Also, please EDIT your post and put a paragraph break between your text and first picture, and between each picture. Your post will not be so wide and will be easier to read.

Now, go do you homework and report back to us.

Ok so i took the barrel off and this is what i'm working with as far as any markings as well as what the trigger looks like taken out. Literally right before my father gave me the gun, the hairpin was working but when i got back to my house and went to show my brother, it wasn't working. I actually have fired the gun myself on several different occasions (once hunting) and it is very accurate. The only thing to my knowledge that is not original is the ram rod which my uncle broke years back.

Images weren't posting so here's a link to them.

I remember them rifles from many years ago when I used to go to a lot of Rendezvous. They were a nice looking rifle and good shooters. They are not a magnum rifle as I remember and their max load was like 100 grains of powder. But that is all you need. In fact the reason I remember them is I almost purchased one on a blanket sale. It was well balanced, shouldered real well, and was a nice looking rifle.

If you have the trigger out, spray it down with brake cleaner, shake it a little to dry it, then mist it with something like Rem Oil Spray. Sometimes when they sit, they get stiff.

Very pretty rifle you have there.

I too have seen a few guns made by Ransom Italia spa (spa = Inc.) over the years. Haven't seen any in a while though. Don't know anything about the company and can't find anything on the Internet. I assume they are out of business or were absorbed into some other company. I would not hesitate to use that gun. It looks to be well put together.
