Default CVA Wolf vs. T/C Impact

Below is a list comparison items I have researched for basic black on black, current production guns; what am I missing?

Barrel:

Wolf - Bergara (or maybe not) 24", 1in28" twist, bullet guiding muzzle, drilled and tapped for scope, no sights, Tool-less QRBP

Impact - Green Mountain (or maybe not) 26", 1in28" twist, QLA muzzle, drilled and tapped for scope, sights, hex tool triple threaded BP

Stock:

Wolf - two piece black composite, recoil pad, texture gripping surfaces, moulded in sling swivel loops

Impact - two piece black composite, recoil pad adjustable for pull, texture gripping surface on wrist, contoured fore arm, QD studs

Lock:

Wolf - Rebounding spur hammer, swappable side spur, single stage trigger, passive safety, spring loaded captive firing pin, break action w/ front of trigger guard latch, aluminum and steel

Impact - Rebounding low profile hammer, single stage trigger, passive safety, spring loaded captive firing pin, break action with rear of breech, sliding hood latch, aluminum, steel, plastic

Physical Characteristic:

Wolf - 6.25 pounds, length ???

Impact - 6.5 pounds, length ???

Leanings:

I think I would rather buy the T/C since I have had excellent results with the 4-5 T/C's I have had in the past, but it seems to be the less ergonomic choice in my quest for a 'sort barreled' break action, with its longer barrel, sparse hammer and hood under the scope.

The Wolf does have a Bergara barrel. It's the same barrel the Optima has, but shorter.

The Impact does not have a GM barrel. It is the same as the Omega barrel though.

I used to have a Wolf, and it was very accurate. No problems at all with it.

Never owned an Impact, but did have an Omega. I didn't like the one I had, but it's a popular gun.

TC makes there own barrels as far as I know they make barrels for Smith and Wesson and their self.

I bought my impact after reading the review on Chuck Hawk's website and then getting hands on in the store. It just fit me well in hand when comparing to the CVA and hasn't dissapointed on the range (except for the tight barrel and I snapped the t-bar off of my ramrod... :-) If you have somewhere you can hold the two side by side you can see which feels best to you.

Whether the Wolf has a Bergara barrel is a matter of debate. See http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/blac...vs-optima.html and judge for yourself.

The Impact does not have a Green Mountain barrel. T/C makes their own barrels, I believe.

Between the two, whichever feels better on the shoulder is what I would pick.

It has a barrel made by Bergara in the Bergara factory. CVA says it's a Bergara barrel.

Call it what you want. I call it a Bergara barrel.

You're repeating yourself. Palehorse, look at the thread above and decide for yourself.

Does anybody have any proof the Wolf barrel is indeed a Bergara barrel? The top of the line CVA's are engraved (or stamped?) "Bergara" on the barrels, but the Wolf and I believe the Optima are not. I have never seen an advertisement stating the "value-priced" models are Bergara. It seems to me if they were Bergaras they would be proudly engraved as such.

On the other hand, I have heard pretty good things about the accuracy of the CVA Wolf- Bergara barrel or not. I have also heard good things about the accuracy of the T/C Impact.

Get a "feel" for both guns, that should help you decide. Good luck.

I guess you've never been to the CVA site?
