Default Va deer

Yesterday was Va general firearms season opener, but i was out with the smokepole.I had been watching a particular buck at the end of last hunting season here in Va, setting up trail cams around the property i hunt, along with alot of glassing this summer an fall this story ended yesterday morning at 6:45, he was chasing 4 does up the side of the mountain an grunting up a storm, i grunted at him an he just froze at appox 110yds, standing broadside in a oak flat.Had the crosshairs on his shoulder an squeezed the trigger, saw him jump through the smoke an lost him for a second.I dedcided to wait about 15mins to get out of my stand an go look for him.Went to the spot he was standing in an there was blood all over the ground an followed the bloodtrail for appox 30yds an there he layed........13pointer with 3 stickers that you can put a ring on easily for a total of 16pts......aged 3-5yrs most back teeth were worn down so bad......t/c omega ,105grains pyro select with a barnes 250 xpander, shot the top half of the heart off...will post pics later today i hope.....have to find the cord for digital camera.

Nice Buck and Congrats!
I Wish I could have taken a Shot at the Buck I saw this Morning around that time that was headed twords the Swamp for His Day Time Nap. But our Legal Hunting Times are Sun Up to Sun Down and here in NY Legal Hunting is'nt untill around 7:15 am. I still could see Him clearly through the Scope and even without it but I had to wait another half hour to be legal.
How the rules in VA reguarding Legal Hunting times?

Glad to hear of some rutting/chasing here in Va. I'm in Augusta County Va and I haven't saw any rutting activity as far as chasing or bucks following does since November 12th. Great Job on the buck! Here is my 7 point I got with the crossbow (my largest archery buck) this year and a pic of my largest buck ever taken 3 years ago with the smokepole.
