Default Tornado takes out My Tree Stand

Yea can you believe it, after I Posted some Pics last night on a Thread of one of My Favorite Tree Stands we got a Tornado and it just had to pass through the area where My Tree Stand was and took it out. WE dont get many if any at all Tornados in NY but we got one last night and I was on the NYS Thruway at the time is hit, I never seen it Rain So hard or the Winds Blow so Hard. I had to almost pull over but I figured that would be more dangerous than to keep driving as I did'nt want to get rearended by someone who did'nt see me. I made it home alive........and My House was OK
Tonight I went Hunting and the Tornado passed through the area where I had one of My favorite Stands, I saw where they fixed 6 Power Line Poles in a row not far from where I was heading, when I got to My Stand I could'nt believe it, it looked like a Bomb went off, tree was broke in half and My 20 Year Old Permanant Stand in a ***aneese Locust Tree was unuseable. I just stood there in shock........then I came home.
At least My House was'nt one of the ones that had the roofs taken off or the Barns that were ripped of there foundations and left in the middle if the roads. Come on, this is NY.....We dont get Tornados, especially in November....what the Heck!
Im Blaming it on the DEER GODS, they took out a Stand that has taken the lives of many Deer and now they got even, but tomorrow Im going to put up a New One in a Tree that's about 25 yards to the right of it that is More Downwind of the Deer Trail. I've been wanting to do this for a-lot of years as I just liked that spot much better as sometimes I get Picked off in that one because the Deer Trail is kinda Close to My Stand, but now there Not gonna have a Clue.....this may have been a Good Thing.....

Maybe the Deer Gods are trying to tell you to hunt on the ground.

Thank goodness no one was hurt during the tornado. I have been through two of them, and its not something I look forward to. Be careful in that mess and look up to see what's over your head.

We also get a down-burst wind on rare occasions, and those just flatten trees. We had one just a little north of my place a few years back and it makes just a tangle of the trees. In fact the federal forest wanted it cleaned and the loggers would not even take for the stumpage because of how hard it is to clear and dangers to clean. Lots of widow makers in that stuff.

Living in northeast Arkansas I have been through several. Luckily I have not had any damage from one. A few years ago we watched one cut across the rice field in front of our house. Its something you never get use to.

Glad that no one was hurt when the tornado came through. Sorry your deer stand was destroyed.

We have those things pretty often here in OK. This one touched down in our back yard on Memorial Day, 1999.

Breech well look on the bright side - you could have been in it.
But you know, it may be a blessing. We had a tornado come thru close to our camp one year. My uncle was sitting behind the roots of an upturned oak tree and shot a huge 8 pt that was picking acorns off the crown of the tree.
And something that concerns me. Would you rather get 'rear ended' by someone who sees you? (sorry - just couldn't let that one pass. it was just too easy)

Ya Know MD your right.....I almost went to that Stand that night but they called for Rain and it was Raining so I blew it off. The Rain does'nt usually matter to Me but the Area where I Hunt has a BIG Piece of Really Thick Stuff boardering it, and you better be 10000% sure your shot is true because if you have to go into that stuff looking for a Deer it could take Hours.
I once shot a Deer from that Stand and thought the Shot was Good so I went to My Truck, Lightened up Myself from grear and clothes and went to find it. When I found the Deer the Coyotes already had the Hind Quarters Eaten, and that was only about 1/2 Hour later.
The Tornado Hit around 5:30 and I would have been to My Truck by that time, but if it would have hit a few Minutes earlier I'd have been screwed as I had no way of knowing it was on it's way.......someone was looking out for Me.....Thank You!
Oh, the Stand is now Fixed and ready for our Gun Opener this Saturday, even though I'll be Hunting in a different place on Saturday, I'll be in it on Sunday.
