Default Coyote or Deer ???

Decisions decisions. I was out hunting in the sandhills looking for either a Mulie buck for me or a whitetail buck for the wife. I spotted a very nice Mulie but couldnt get close enough. He disappeared , not to be seen again. I went to where we had permission for the wife to hunt . i figured there might be a whitetail buck around, instead i saw 5 coyote in with the guys cows. I went and ask him about hunting them. He said shoot them all.

So I think i might forgo looking for my mulie buck and try calling a few coyotes this week. Tough decision. deer or coyotes

coyotes are sure a pain. Especially if they are in and around live stock. I guess you have to decide how much hunting time you have. Plus you never know, you might be out dog hunting and see a nice deer.

Shoot the yotes! You'll save deer by killing them.

I had a similar decison while turkey hunting - shoot the yote and blow my set-up (was working a Tom) Well shot the Yote - and the dang Tom still came in!

Could not be happier.

Good luck out there....

I always have a small game license. and can hunt coyotes year around. I wouldn't waste a deer season shooting them.

What are your laws on coyote hunting?

Year round. 24 hours a day. Seven days a week. Can even use light at night . I just thought that with a pack of 5 it might be worth a day or two of calling to see if I get a few. I usually hunt Ypres January and February in between mt lion hunting trips
