Default Recoil?

What's your best guess on recoil between these two loads.

Powerbelt Platinum 338gr with 100gr BH 209.

No Excuse 460gr with 80gr Pyro or BP 2F.

i feel that the 460's would have a sharper crack to it.

I would agree. Bullet weight has more to do with recoil than velocity really. I shot my buddy's 12 gauge 870 about ten times with slugs last weekend and my shoulder is just now in the right place! The slugs where probably only going 1200-1300 fps, but over an once of lead hurts no matter what. Yet another reason why front stuffers are better than slug guns!

The Pyrodex load might not kick as bad as you think. But both are pushing a lot of lead.

It was my thinking too. I just wanted to see what others thought.

2F BP is a soft shooting powder, but not enough to make up for the 460gr bullet.

For the record. The PB load is more than I really want. I'm thinking of dropping to 80 gr. Maybe the PB will hold together better.
