Default Simple, Easy (and Cheap) Sandbags

Got an old pair of socks in the drawer? (Long stretchy tube socks work best.)

And a couple of plastic grocery bags?

Put some clean sand in two bags.

Tie the bag ends and cut off the tails. (The bags in this picture are tied off a little too tight. It's best to leave a little room for the sand to shift around.)

Then stuff them into the socks and tie them off. You can cut the tails off if you want. But I leave them on so I can tie the two tails together and throw the bags over my shoulder to transport them.

It works really well for a down & dirty sand bag rest.

If you want it lighter you can use rice, corn, or even Styrofoam "peanuts". But I like the weight and stability of sand.

Good idea.

The bags in this picture are, rice bags from the restaurant I cook at. Also some made from an old pair of jeans closed off with cable ties.
both are filling with oats.

I just hoped he washed them first! What a genius. Always thinking. And that is a good idea Semi. But I think it will take a while for my sand bags, made from shot bags, wear out.

I have a bunch of my old wool army socks, filled with rice and tied off with zip ties. They work great!

I'll set the over / under on the age of thoe tube sock at 27 years old.

That would make them 1984 vintage. How close am I Semi?

When I made my pair of bags, I used rice. It really works well.
