i use 110gr BH209 for 200 yard shooting with a 250gr bullet. When you want to beat yourself up and throw money down the range, then i guess its time to use 150gr pellets.
The only time I would shoot 150 grains of pellets was if my rifle and projectile I picked were accurate with that load. I don't care about the distance. 10 yards to 200 yards. If it is accurate, then I would use it. But remember, some projectiles do not like powerful loads and preform better with less powder. So know your rifle, your accuracy, and your projectile.
I note a lot of the hunting "experts" in the shows and articles talk about.. With my 150 grain load of Pyrodex RS and a 250 grain Shockwave I would make this shot with ease. I always wondered how much of this was BS.
How many here shoot three pellets as their load? Not me.

Waste of money. I use 250gr Shockwaves with only (2) 50gr pellets of Pyrodex and get out to 200 yds with no problem. If you want to shoot that far obviously practice at that distance because it is way out there. Bullets, load and powder are all players as wether or not your gun can get out there that far, experiment with all and you can find what your guns likes. Good Luck but in my experience all my deer lately have been under 50 yards.

I would never use 3 - 50 gr pellets. What a waste of powder in a barrel 28" or less. 100-110 gr is more than enough to get the job done easily for as far as you can ethically shoot your ML. Most of my MLs (50 cals) have a diet of somewhere between 80-90 gr.

What is the difference then between someone shooting three pellets and someone else shoot 120 grains of BlackHorn 209? Or Triple Seven? The numbers have to be close, as does the recoil. So if the rifle was accurate with that load and especially if I shot long distances, I would use the three pellets.
