Default evolution problems

just bought a evolution...went to the range today.........the best group i could get off a bench was 7" at 50 yds......used 2 pyrodex 50 gr. pellets and a 245 gr. powerbelt hp. as this combination worked very well in my other 50 cal....this rifle has a 1-28 twist.....do i need more powder or dont powerbelts work for this twist?????any help would be appricated...what do you use???????. sorry they were 245 gr. not 345

If it were me, I would try less powder. Like 80 grains of loose powder. Also there is no telling what weight of powerbelt the rifle will like. Perhaps you might want to try some sabots also.

The best shooting PB is the Aerolite. I wouldn't use them for more than deer though. 300gr at that.

PB's just do not like some barrels and some barrels don't like certain weights.
If the 295 gr PB won't shoot for you try some Hornady FPB 350 gr.

certain guns prefer certain bullet weights. I'd try the 295gr Powerbelt.

What primer you using?

Now, this could certainly just be the load, but because the groups are SO bad, I hafta ask...did you check to make sure your sights are tight? If it is scoped, please humor me and remove the rings to check the bases as well.

I don't care for pellets or powerbelts. But if I had to, I'd be leaning 295gr, or dropping the powder charge 20gr. Might be pushing them just a wee too fast for that ol gun.
