Default more paper patch shooting. 100yds

first of all I am not much of an 100yrd shooter. so I don't know if it is the load, rest, shooter, lead used for the bullets, or the paper. still very much an novice at paper patching.

win apex 45cal 1 28 twist
triple 7 primers
70grs triple 7 3f
all done at 100yrds
lee improved minnie 45cal, range lead (going to change that soon if I don't run out of time)

with wads

with out wads, two holes on the far right the paper tore

I don't feel comfortable trying to take an deer at 100yrds with the this load. still can't bring my self to buy bullets since I cast my own. my next day off, I am going to back the load back down to 65grs of triple 7 3f to see how it does.

I had the same kind of luck shooting minnie ball. The same reason I would not hunt with them.

little too late for me to work on else. Va early muzzleloader season starts this weekend. even thou I am thinking about skipping it. if I don't, with that load I should be safe out to 75yrds.

So you only shot two shots with out a wad and those were the two on the right side? Other than them being off to one side those two shots together are not bad. I would try that again. Ron

the paper ripped on those two. I shot 10 at that target. half had ripped paper, 2 shots with rem sts did not hit the target.

I am to the range in the morning. give another try if all works out, i am going to take my scoped sidelock with me
