Talking I'm Ready for the Woods Again!!!

Went to the range and got out the Sidekick and Vision. They never let me down!

The Sidekick was loaded with 100 grs. of BH209 and a 300 gr. Hornady XTP. This is my meat gun and has never failed me. My POA/POI were spot on. It is ready for the woods.

The Knight Vision was working nicely also. I tried a new bullet. A friend turned me on to a Parker sabot bullet. It was a 275 gr. ballistic tip, jacketed bullet. Not sure if anyone has heard of this bullet, but some of my buddies in my hunt club use them. My first two shots were touching and trying to make one hole at 50 yds. What made all this more interesting was when I shot two of my Hornady 350 gr. FPB bullets after shooting the Parkers. My first shot went into the middle of the first two Parker shots! At first I couldn't find the FPB on the target. My friend said I should aim a the bottom of the target and it hit exactly in the same area as the first. I mean as to the POA vs. POI. So I could have had four shots in one hole. Amazing!!!

All in all, I am a happy man and ready for my trip to the woods. Now Maybe I can slay a buck with a lot of little dimple points to out score the other teams. I will be in the woods for 3 and 1/2 weeks this time.

Life is good and so is being retired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be using the Parker 275 this year in one of mine too. They do very well at sub speeds and hold up good enough at smokeless speeds. The thin jacket and soft lead core seems to make them obturate better than some bullets and IMO that can help groups a lot, even in a sabot. They were more intended for sabotless 45cal shooters but work great in sabots too.

Good luck and let us know how they performed for you. Most people that have used them for deer really like them. You can get them occasionally under the Traditions brand when they have web specials at a huge savings. I paid about $9/15 during the last closeout sale. Im not sure if they will offer them again at that price since they are now sold out.

Wow, I need to watch out for that sale. I paid $16.95 plus tax for a pack. So far on paper they are amazing. Hope they perform well on my favorite packstrap transportation device!!!

Sounds good! The 275 Parker has a very good reputation for accuracy and terminal performance. Good luck hunting!
