Default A good reason for hunting other than for food.

Mountain biker gets taken out by buck.

What do you think would have been the odds placed on that if you'd bet someone... today I will ride my mountain bike and have a wild deer run over me! That was amazing.

Although twenty some years ago, we were making a drive during deer season through a field of marsh grass. And the grass was really thick and had deer trails all through the stuff. Well the person to my right gave a yell that he had deer moving. The easy way to walk through this stuff was to stay on the paths the deer had made. And I heard something pounding the ground towards me. So I stepped off the path to the side. And a doe went past me so close, that I could have touched her side with the barrel of my 30-06 rifle. It was buck only so she was safe. But after that, I stayed off the paths and made my own way through that stuff on that drive.

We did that during a drive of a standing corn field about 30yrs. Ago. My dad had an ole buck about run him over as we were driving, he sais it was all he could do to get out of the way. Said there wasn't even enough room to shoulder his shotgun, he said all he was able to do is point and shoot. And to the looks of the cinged hair around the entry hole, he was close. To dat it was the biggest bodied buck, I have seen. It was 263lbs field dressed. Had a great looking 7 point rack on the left and a straight 13" single point, in the other.
