Default Knight Bighorn breech plug????

I'm shooting # 11 RWS and need a new plug. Can I get one with a bigger port? I really don't wat to modify a stock plug.

Can I just open up a standard plug to say a 1/4" to allow more powder to the flash hole?

If you look at the picture you will see a stock Big Horn plug (left) and a Stock MK-85 plug.(Right)

I talked to Knight (Gordy) about this and I think all the new cap ignition Big Horn PLugs will come like the MK-85 plug.

This is the Big Horn with the open channel under the nipple...

You can open the channel but go with a bit just slightly smaller than 1/4" so that you do not ding the nipple threads...

Did Gordy tell you why they ever made that Bighorn plug different in the first place?

No... but i would assume it was because all the other Knight plugs were 1/8" flame channels.

But, i believe he concurred that opening the channel provided a better flash channel...

I don't follow you I guess. I didn't think the mk 85s or the wolverines ever had a 1/8" flame channel. With the Bighorn being of basically the same design I would think they would have stuck with the same breech plug that works so well in them.

I have never seen a Wolverine plug... so it also has the larger flash channel? Makes you wonder why they dropped it in the Big Horn Series...
