a little while ago I some how broke one the sections of my cva range rod at the threads. today I went to lowes and picked up an small piece of copper tubing and fixed it. little solder, little beeswax. not a bad little patch job. my only concern is it hitting the rifling when I clean where it broke is most of my loads hit.

I think if you taper the shoulders it should not be a problem.

i used a little more solder, building it up then taking fine grit sand paper tapered that down may add a little more to it to help feel in the gaps the repair is coming along nicely.
I know it is a lot of work but anything that saves money in the long way counts.

After you get ther shoulders were you want them, I would get some heat shrink tubing and slide over your joint. Apply some heat and the rubber will shrink and mold to your joint giving a little bit of cushion.
