Default A Test to determine truth in advertising

In another thread someone mentioned that there are cheaper guns that would shoot as good as the Mountaineer . That got me to thinking about some of the accuracy claims being made by companies. I am of the opinion that the further you shoot the more the difference in accuracy and quality will be apparent. So for next outing I am going to test the 4 inch group at 200 yards that Knight claims. I know I had another gun of the alphabet company that had a claim on their box but I wasn't able to achieve it. I realize shooter ability plays a factor but remember this claim is made to anyone buying a gun. I plan on testing this claim tomorrow if the rain doesn't stop me. So stay tuned.

A lot of factors control that. I think a 10mph cross wind will move a 250grn bullet 12 inches. If the wind is consistent the group will be. Cant wait to see your findings, i will show you mine in a PM when your done.

I really love the spoton app for my phone. It has been very accurate in the ballistics especially in regards to crosswinds. If you have the iPhone and don't have the nikon spoton app it is well worth the 4.95 You should get it of you have nikon scopes.

200 Yard Guaranteed Shot Accuracy

When you pick up a Knight rifle, you can have confidence that it's the most accurate muzzleloader in the industry. That's why we guarantee a 4-inch 3-shot group at 200 yards with a developed load using a bullet available from Knight. Because sometimes the only thing you can count on is how your Knight will perform.

but even their guarantee has a clause of with a developed load using their bloodlines... I think just about any modern inline will hold the accuracy of 4" at 200 yards with the right setup. if not, with the hype of magnum loads and ballistic scope and the internet and people giving bad reviews... would put them out of business.

I know for a fact that my encore and omega will hold 4" at 200....and i have even seen CVA's do it... so to me it is just a hype of having the guarantee in writing to draw in people that want to be able to shoot the long shot...do i like the idea of it, yes... but, in todays inline world most all newer inlines will do it, if the shooter does his part....like I said, if they didn't they would lose business....

I'm sure the Mountaineer shoots really good. But then again, a lot of rifles will shoot really good once you find the load they like. I like Knight, I like T/C, I like CVA - basically, and I quote "Only accurate rifles are interesting". I have an old CVA that shoots 1.5" groups or less at 100 yards. I've never tested it at 200 yards, but I have little doubt that it would shoot less than 4" with the right load. On the other hand, I'm sure it is not as solid and well-built as the Mountaineer. Looking forward to results!
