Default T/C 240gr. hollowpoint Cheap Shots & TC Omega?

I was wondering how the TC hollowpoint Cheap Shots shoot from the Omega? I have the Z5 .50cal and was thinking about trying these out as they are ALOT cheaper than the ballistic tip. My shots during hunting will be less than 100yrds and more likely 25-50yrds as I'm hunting in the woods and not the fields. Any info would be appreciated. Due to health problems I need to cut down my hunting budget.

I also noticed some really cheap "crush rib" sabots at the Rural King farm store. Can't remember the brand name but they were a fraction of the cost of most others. Just don't know if something like that would hold up or not.

The Shockwave has a ballistic tip and is not hollow point. But the 240 Cheap Shots that are pure lead are hollow point. So are the XTPs. And they should work real good in the woods on moderate ranges and deer. Although I have never shot a deer with them.

I don't know about the Cheap Shots but I think I remember them getting good reviews on their performance on deer. But a package of 30 Hornady 240 grain XTP's with Thompson Center Mag Express sabots sold by Thompson Center can sometimes be found at Wallmart for under $13.00. And I can attest to their performance on deer. They work very well.

I dont have a T.C. I can tell you the Shockwaves have served me well on deer. The only problem I've had is they are hard to load in my Knight Wolverine and harder in my American Knight.

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it. and 25/06, I hear you about the ShockWaves. The ShockWave SuperGlides load easy in my Omega but the regular SW's are pretty tight and very hard to seat without swabbing between shots. I might try some offbrand crushed ribs & hollowpoints from the farm store also. Since I'll likely be shooting 50yrds and under from my stand in the woods, I may be able to get away with using the cheap ones this year. I can't see spending alot of money on them when they only need to be accurate out to 50yrds or so. The SuperGlides are nice though. I was getting 1" groups @ 100yrds with them shooting off a rest @ the range. I was impressed with the accuracy for sure. I'm sure I could've worked up a load that would group well out to 200yrds as well, but I just don't need that type of range where I hunt. I may even use my TC .50 Carbine part of the time this year. It is a great treestand rifle and I use my ML's during firearms season as well.

I don't know how much these cheaper sabots and bullets are, but I've switched to the Speer Deep Curls with Harvester Crush Rib Sabots to save some money. I really have been impressed by them so far and it seems like I'm paying about $6 for sabots, and $19 or so for the bullets. It's much cheaper than anything else I've been able to buy pre packaged at the store, and I still get great performance.

The cheap shots do shoot well with 100 grains of Pyrodex RS out of my Black Diamond XR. T/C said the Black Diamond barrel is the same as the omega. But that's no guarantee they will shoot well out of yours. I have also read people's range and hunting reports of the Cheap Shots knocking down deer real well.
