Default 209X45 Contender Barrel

Anyone know anything about the 209X45 caliber barrel for the Contender?? I believe the barrel was a limited run from TC. But I never heard of, or saw such a barrel before.

I found a pretty good deal on a used one. And I think it would make a vey light and handy woods hunting rifle. But I was just wondering if anyone on here knew anything about this barrel??

I did own a 45 caliber barrel for a Contender several years ago(over 10). But the one I had was a custom by Bull Berry. I should have kept it, but I didn't. And now I ran into this Contender barrel?? Thanks, Tom.

IIRC those are semi uncommon (2-3yr run) and possibly a 1-20 twist with a tight bore. IMO in a carbine the faster twist might be kinda cool. They did change them to 1-28 later....i think

You can also make one from a 45/70 barrel if you can find one. SMI converts them for under $150 IIRC.

If you found one it would (in my opinion only) be foolish not to get it just to hold on to. I had originally wanted a contender muzzleloader, either original or G2, and looked for a .45 barrel for over a year. I was about to have one made but then the opportunity for a Pro Hunter came along for only a little more than I could have just the barrel made for, so I went that route instead. Point is, from looking around on the internet there's always a hundred people looking for one of those barrels. I'm sure you'll be able to get your money back out of it if you ever decide to sell it.
