Default Scoping a T/C Impact...

and can't find many bases made for it. Will an Encore/Omega scope base fit this barrel? I know the BP is identical, and I believe it is an Omega barrel simply fitted to a new stock/firing mechanism.

Secondly, I am considering a scope base w/ integrated peep sight. http://www.eabco.com/Muzzleloader03.htm Does anyone have any experience with this base?

Thanks

That should work. If I remember correctly the Omega/Encore/Triumph are all drilled and tapped the same way. For the life of me I can't remember 100 Percent though. Someone else on the forum may know for sure or you can call TC and ask them. Everyone has different views on bases/scope rings. But one thing is for sure always go with steel. You'll sometimes pay double but they will last forever.

Here is my views on scopes and bases...

Get the base and rings that will bring that scope as close to the barrel as possible. The lower the scope is, the better the harmonics of the unit. Just make sure the hammer clears all you need. As for a peep sight.. I would forget it. I've discovered that rifles with sight and scope.. the scope is always gone to instead of the sights. I think it is just a matter of confidence. Beside, practice with that scope and it will be plenty fast for all your shooting needs. Since you might be concerned about close shots, and why you'd want the peep sight.. get a scope with low end magnification. I personally like a 2-7 x32mm scope. The Nikon Pro Staff being my favorite. On 2x I can hunt thickets with ease. On 7x I can hunt open fields. And the 32mm gives you all the sight picture you need.

Now if you hunt only fields then the Nikon Omega 3-9x40 might be another scope choice.
